How GPS works

GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the unit's electronic map.

A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position (latitude and longitude) and track movement. With four or more satellites in view, the receiver can determine the user's 3D position (latitude, longitude and altitude). Once the user's position has been determined, the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed, bearing, track, trip distance, distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time and more.

The GPS satellite system

The 24 satellites that make up the GPS space segment are orbiting the earth about 12,000 miles above us. They are constantly moving, making two complete orbits in less than 24 hours. These satellites are travelling at speeds of roughly 7,000 miles an hour.

GPS satellites are powered by solar energy. They have backup batteries onboard to keep them running in the event of a solar eclipse, when there's no solar power. Small rocket boosters on each satellite keep them flying in the correct path.

GPS Technology

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.

Akon - Freedom

Everything I have, everything I own
All my mistakes man you already know
I wanna be free, I wanna be free

From Senegal West Africa,
To St. Louis, Missouri
Thanks to Catherine ?----?
For giving my paps his glory
He came down with his drum
And a dream to change the world
In a free uplifting world
And thats all we ever want
Mom
Gave birth to my brother
And then all of the pressure
Made em' fight one and another
See, the pain would never left
Did the best with what they had
They knew the world was out for ?---?
And they they searched to find their..

..Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
Everything I have, everything I own
All my mistakes man, you already know
I wanna be free, I wanna be free
So I search to find my..
..Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
Everything I have, everything I own
All my mistakes girl, you already know
I wanna be free, I wanna be free, yeah

As a kid I never knew
That after this that we would make it through
So I found myself skipping school
Couse' the girls gonna think i'm cool
And because of that I did'nt care
Wether or not I went to jail
I just wanna be treated fair
Cause' thats all I ever knew
Tellin' me I need to slow down
Cause' everybody in the whole town
Cause' they know how I get down
Far enough from another town
Can you believe we're still around?
Have my soul baby in the ground
And we ain't gonna stop that
Until we get that..

..Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
Everything I have, everything I own
All my mistakes man you already know
I wanna be free, I wanna be free
Won't stop til' I find my..
..Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
Everything I have, everything I own
All my mistakes girl you already know
I wanna be free, I wanna be free, yeah

If you wanna be free, and the land is drug-free
put your hands up, put your hans up
If you wanna be free, from all your misery
put your hands up, put your hans up
If you wanna be free, with plenty money
put your hands up, put your hans up
If you wanna be free, just prace ?---?
put your hands up, put your hans up

Freedom, Freedom(Freedom), Freedom, Freedom
Everything I have, everything I own
All my mistakes girl you already know
I wanna be free(wanna be free),
I wanna be free(wanna be free)

WiMAX technology

Simply put WiMAX is, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, a technology standard that enables high speed wireless internet. In other words, WiMAX combines the high speed of a broadband connection with the convenience of mobile internet connectivity. WiMAX provides wireless broadband access up to a radius of 50 kilometers (30 miles) for fixed receivers and 5-15 kilometers (3-10 miles) for mobile receivers.
